Biomass Power Generation Business Group
It consists of three projects under three companies, namely TGE, TPG, and TBP located in the company’s area in Surat Thani Province. It is a biomass power plant project, a small electric power producer with a capacity not exceeding 10 MW.
The power plants produce electricity from biomass raw materials, including empty palm bunches, palm fibers, and chopped palm trees, which are by-products from the production and extraction of palm oil. They are raw materials that can be easily found in Surat Thani Province, one of the country’s major oil palm plantations. However, the Group’s biomass power plants can also utilize other biomass raw materials, such as chopped roots and wood chips, if the palm is scarce or expensive.
The Group’s three biomass power plant projects have a total capacity of 29.7 MW., with 20.3 MW. of electricity sold to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) under a PPA contract. Some of the leftover electricity is sold to Thachang Oil Palm Industries Company Limited (TCP), a palm oil extraction company owned by the Wanasuwankul Family Group, while some is utilized by the TGE Group.
